Learn to Sail and Bayfront YMCA announce a new program for sailing on Charlotte Harbor beginning Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. Several new, one day programs are being offered for youth and adult sailing lessons from 10 am. “Introduction to Sailing” is for anyone curious about sailing but never had the occasion to sail. It’s a chance for an individual, couple or three to experience sailing with a certified sailing instructor. Boat size and type depends on weather, number and weight of participants. Introduction to Sailing begins at $50 per person and varies based on the guest’s wishes and instructor’s consultation.
Additional training is offered from refresher courses to intensive seamanship study.
Students who finished the one-week, summer camp course have a new opportunity to extend their knowledge with these classes while practicing what they have already learned. Graduates may sail on Saturdays for $20 a day. The avid student with proper clothing and gear to prevent hypothermia, can sail every Saturday for the rest of the year for a one-time fee of $140.
Learn to Sail has an extensive fleet of 25 boats including 8’ prams, 11’ Sunfish, Picos and Zum. A US Yacht 22’ competition classic and two Logic Safety boats. Later this year we will be adding 14.6’ American daysailers. All boats are available on a first-come basis.
Learn to Sail is located at 750 West Retta Esplanade, on Charlotte Harbor in the YMCA Bayfront Center in Gilchrist Park, Punta Gorda FL.
Sailing builds confidence, enhances logic, and teaches team work. It is a life changing experience for all involved.
