The Sail Cube is a small, single-handed sailing pram intended
for use by children up to the age of 15. It is one of the most
popular sailing prams in the world.
Sail Cubes are used for beginners. The boats are essentially the
same as an Optimist. Very small children are sometimes
“doubled up,” but usually the boats are single-handers.
In this mode children gain confidence and improved skills:
“The small boats train the champs.” Many sailing schools and
yacht clubs own several them, and they are the first boat most
beginners will sail.
The Laser Pico
The Laser Pico is a sporty, sturdy roto-molded-polyethylene
dinghy just under 12 feet in length. Combining a spacious,
self-draining cockpit and a high boom create a boat that is a
comfort to sail. The Laser Pico is also quick and easy to rig,
so students spend more time on the water. The unique Laser
Reef® system, designed to reduce the sail area when desired,
can be operated while under sail. This enables instruction to
continue despite changing wind conditions.
The Sunfish sailboat is a personal size, beach-launched sailing
The American 14 has a comfortable cockpit which easily
accommodates three sailors and an instructor. It has a mainsail
and a jib, so every member of the crew has a job. When using
this boat, the instructors can teach the basics of sailing while
the kids also learn the importance of working as a team.
